Woman Allegedly Attempts to Bite Officer Following Suspected DUI Crash

Abington Police arrest a Fairless Hills woman following a crash on Hall Avenue.

Abington Police late last month arrested a Fairless Hills woman after she allegedly crashed her Toyota Celica into two parked vehicles on Hall Avenue while intoxicated; one of the parked vehicles crashed into an additional parked vehicle

Angela Croce, 48, of the 200 block of Oxford Valley Road, was arrested July 31 at about 5:40 a.m. in the 1200 block Hall Avenue in Roslyn. According to police, Croce said she had taken a sleeping pill about four hours ago, but could not sleep so she decided to drive to her boyfriend’s house on Osbourne Avenue. She said she did not recall how the crash happened.

Croce smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was having a difficult time maintaining her balance, though she said she did not consume any alcohol, police said. While explaining field sobriety tests to Croce, police said she had a penny in her mouth and refused to remove it; she “aggressively charged” a police officer and said, “I’m not taking the [expletive] penny out of my mouth.”

According to police, Croce, who was then arrested, refused to get in the police vehicle and began yelling and screaming; she refused a blood test at Holy Redeemer Hospital and was later transported to Abington Police headquarters.

While in the processing room, Croce became irate again and demanded a phone call, police said. She then stood up, lunged toward a police officer and while she was being handcuffed, leaned toward an officer and attempted to bite his right leg.

Croce eventually calmed down, apologized for her actions and admitted to drinking “a few glasses of wine,” police said. A portable breath test indicated that her blood alcohol content was 0.153 percent.

Croce was charged with DUI, disorderly conduct, careless driving, and aggravated assault, a felony. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 22 at 2:15 p.m. in front of District Justice John Kessler.
