On the article PA Gov. Corbett Sees Affordable Care Act 'Collapsing'

That a country of our wealth doesn't provide healthcare as a basic right of citizenship, and instead lets people go bankrupt and lose homes over medical bills, is a complete embarrassment.
And the worst horror stories always seem to be from people who actually did have insurance, but were continually denied coverage for a procedure until it was too late. Anytime there's a news item about that, there's the inevitable influx of comments from Canadians shaking their heads and saying "I don't know how you Americans live like this." -

ReplySorry, I have don't have a ton of sympathy for existing sellers suddenly facing more competition. That's pro-consumer, and pro-consumer systems and laws are what our economy is based on and why there's things like anti-trust acts. It may suck for them, but the consumer benefits, and that's all that should matter. Anytime a bar owner cries over six-packs potentially being sold at distributors, it's tough to feel anything for them when they stick you for $10 for that six-pack that can be purchased as a case of 24 for $18.

This is such nonsense. How many thousands of running races, big and small, are held around the country every year where attendees have backpacks and nothing ever happens. Then there's one incident where a bomb was in a backpack and everyone hyper-reacts.
Women are going to have to get used to just carrying wallets around like men, because it's easy to predict the first shopping mall to ban purses 'in the name of safety'. -

ReplyBeing able to order from outside is a great idea. Plus it'll be one more place people with dogs can easily get a meal while they're together in town.

What Mark is saying is that it's sad the Standard Club "fought tooth and nail", but then can't keep their place healthy.

ReplySeriously, is Chamber's run by a seven-year-old? How is a place that pricey consistently having an arm's length of violations?
"there was a container of chicken being stored inside a container of cheese" What? I don't think you need a degree in restaurant management to know that's not acceptable. -

ReplyI just question the value of a story about a lawsuit that names neither the plaintiff nor the accused (and to be fair, the Intell did this, too). It's like if ESPN ran a sports ticker telling you baseball scores but not telling you who played each other.

ReplyIt's a shame they're doing it so early. If they waited a month it would greatly improve the chances of being able to enjoy restaurants while eating outside.

Parents can be parents and stop leaving their kids to roam about town aimlessly all the time. It's always the same kids being told endlessly to stop smoking on Starbucks patio (often consecutive days, as though the rules had magically changed overnight), the same kids clogging up the old Kenny's lot by acting like buffoons, and sometimes cursing at adults to show off to friends how 'tough' they are, as happened to me a few weeks ago. We have such a great town, but we let teens ruin both it and themselves.
