Five Displaced in Wyndmoor Fire
A fire rips through a house in the corner of East Gravers Lane and Stenton Avenue.
A house fire in the 500 block of East Gravers Lane in Wyndmoor displaced five residents and closed the street for about five hours. According to Springfield Township Fire Marshal Charles Baily, the fire started at about 7 a.m. The house was occupied when the fire started, but everyone escaped unharmed. No fire fighters were injured. The house, a large 3-plus story structure in the corner of East Gravers Lane and Stenton Avenue, is a one-family dwelling, Baily said. “It’s a huge, old house,” Baily said. “It’s got a lot of rooms and an open 3-story staircase.” Baily said the residents have made arrangements to stay with local friends or relatives. These are nice folks, they have gone through a lot in the last several months. The death of a father, the son had a stroke on Christmas Eve and was hospitalized for a few weeks then a hip replacement now this tragedy.
