OMG PD: Accused Killer Seeks Money for Legal Fees from Victim's Estate

This week's stories include an accused killer seeking money for legal fees from the victim's estate and a thief who allegedly tried to sell stolen items in the parking lot of the store he just robbed.

Accused Killer Seeks Money from Victim's Estate: According to a report in the Norristown Patch, a man accused of killing his mother, father and brother with a sword in 2011 has filed a request to draw money from the victim's $1 million estate. The accused killer stated in court documents that he needs the money to retain counsel, as well as hire expert forensic psychiatrists to defend against the charges. He was previously given $16,000 in public funds for his defense. Man Charged with DUI After Allegedly Passing Out at McDonald's Drive-Thru: According to a report in the Limerick Patch, a 27-year-old man has been charged with four counts of DUI after he allegedly passed out in his vehicle while at the McDonald's drive-thru. Court documents state that upon arrival by police, the driver smelled like alcohol, had glassy eyes and seemed lethargic. He was later taken to a local hospital to have blood drawn for testing. Drunk Man Charged with Stealing Drunk Bus: According to a report in the Lower Providence Patch, a 38-year-old Lower Providence Township man is facing felony theft, DUI, and multiple other charges after he allegedly stole a van used for designated driver services while under the influence of alcohol. The report states that the vehicle was recovered a short time later, and the suspect was placed in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $50,000 bail. Police Seek Credit Card Fraud Suspect

The suspect has used cloned credit cards to purchase gift cards at various Walgreens locations in Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia and Montgomery counties

Towamencin Township Police are working on a joint investigation with the Pennsylvania State Police to identify a man authorities say is responsible for credit card fraud and other theft-related offenses in four Pennsylvania counties. Police said the man used cloned credit cards to purchase gift cards during the second week in January 2013. The man used the cloned cards at Walgreens stores in Flourtown, Drexel Hill and the Feasterville-Trevose area, police said. Police said the suspect also used a cloned credit card with the Philadelphia Parking Authority on M Street in Philadelphia on Jan. 10, 2013.   Burglary and theft … Andres Acosta, 20, of the 3100 block of Stirling Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Dec. 19 after he admitted to a Sept. 4 burglary in the 900 block of Dale Road in which a black Honda S2000 was stolen from a garage, police said. A GPS unit valued at $200 was also taken from a yellow Toyota SUV, which was parked near the S2000. According to police, the homeowner had been doing yard work at the time of the theft. Abington detectives pulled a fingerprint using black fingerprint powder from the Toyota, and county detectives linked the print to Acosta, police said.
