The Fort Washington School of Rock takes a trip back to a time of keyboards, drum machines and big hair.
The Fort Washington School of Rock went "Back to the 80s" on Friday night, treating those in attendance to music by Billy Idol, Journey, Madonna, and other prominent artists from the decade of big hair. The school keeps, well ... rocking during the summer.
While most students are spending their summers relaxing at the beach or in the pool, one school is still in session. But these are no ordinary students, and this is no ordinary school. The students are young musicians at the School of Rock Fort Washington – a music school which celebrated its fifth anniversary last January. The school is designed not only to provide a solid music education for children and young adults but also to offer experience preparing for, and performing in live shows. This summer, students have been hard at work preparing for the next series of shows the school will put on taking place in September. Fort Washington School of Rock House Band and Junior House Band will perform a benefit concert at The Limit in Blue Bell, for Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard.
The School of Rock Fort Washington’s House Band and Junior House Band will be performing a benefit concert at The Limit Bar and Restaurant on April 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The cover charge for the night is one non-perishable food item. All food collected during the evening will be donated to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler. The Community Cupboard has been helping the less fortunate in our community for over 30 years, providing food, clothing, household items, and more, to those whose incomes fall below the poverty line.
