The White House released the College Scorecard, with looks at loan repayment, costs, graduation rates and more of the nations colleges, including Manor College, Arcadia University, Penn State Abington and more.

After President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address in February, the White House has released the College Scorecard. According to the WhiteHouse.gov website, "College Scorecards in the U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency Center make it easier for you to search for a college that is a good fit for you." -- The average student at Arcadia University pays $24,200 a year, after grants and scholarships. A decrease of 2 percent from the institution’s 2007 to 2009 tuition costs. Families typically borrow $22,600 in Federal student loans for undergraduate study, and make payments of $260 a month over 10 years. I know from personal experience that the exhibition currently on view at Penn State’s Palmer Museum of Art demonstrates works of art from one of the best private collections of American art anywhere —certainly on a university campus. This collection was amassed privately by longtime Penn State arts patrons and community philanthropists, James and Barbara Palmer. Shawne McCoy to join staff on Feb. 4.

We are ... getting a new AD. Penn Staters at the Abington campus will soon have a new athletic director (AD). Shawne McCoy, according to ReadMedia, will begin his new role officially of Feb. 4. Chancellor Dr. Karen Wiley Sandler announced the new AD to succeed Dr. Karen Weaver, who stepped down on Dec. 31, 2012 to pursue a faculty post at Drexel University after six years at Penn State Abington. Glenside's Maddy Evans Is Beantown Bound

Evans to join the new National Women's Soccer League in its first professional season.

Abington High School graduate Maddy Evans was an all-star on the Penn State University's women's soccer team. As one of the team's midfielders, Evans led the Lady Lions to their first national championship in the NCAA. Though they suffered a loss, the Nittany Lions were proud of their midfielder. "One of the best and most hard-working players in the country," said the Lady Lions Head Soccer Coach Erica Walsh of Evans. "We anticipate her helping us in the midfield, but she can play anywhere on the field and will be an amazing asset to our group." Early Education Professionals Plan to Meet in Franconia

A "winter update" will address additional stresses young children are facing in the wake of recent violent school attacks.

With the violence of Sandy Hook Elementary School still fresh in the minds of parents and educators, the need to talk to young children about violence is evergrowing. Bucks and Montgomery county educators will soon have a chance to learn how to best handle what can be a very difficult discussion to have. The Montgomery County Cooperative Extension of Penn State will host a 2013 Winter Update for Early Education professionals. The state of Pennsylvania is suing after the NCAA sanctioned Penn State.

  Gov. Tom Corbett announced Wednesday that he is suing the National Collegiate Athletic Association for its sanctions against Penn State University. Former Penn State President to be Charged in Alleged Sandusky Coverup

Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly announced new charges surrounding Penn State's alleged coverup of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Former Penn State University Presient Graham Spanier will be charged with perjury, endangering the welfare of children and obstruction of justice, stemming from the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal, according to a press conference broadcasted on 6ABC. Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly held the press conference announcing the charges, citing e-mails between Spanier, former Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley and  former Penn State Vice President Gary Schultz discussing reports of Sandusky sexually abusing boys on campus. PSU hit with four-year postseason ban and $60 million penalty.

The NCAA levied numerous sanctions against Pennsylvania State University Monday morning, including a ban that will keep its football team from competing in any postseason play for the next four seasons and a $60 million fine. The NCAA will also strip the program of 112 wins – all but one of which came under Joe Paterno – dating back to 1998. The vacated victories mean that Paterno will no longer hold the title of winningest coach in college football history. Penn State will also be required to reduce its number of football scholarships from 25 to 15 over the next four seasons.
