A man robbed an Upper Dublin PNC bank early Saturday morning.
A masked man robbed the PNC bank at 1015 South Bethlehem Pike shortly after it opened Saturday morning. Upper Dublin Police Detective Mike Byrne said the man entered the bank at about 8:30 a.m. The man, who was wearing a white cloth bag or pillowcase on his head with eye holes cut out, entered the bank with a small, black semi-automatic pistol, according to police. He was also carrying a black Nike drawstring bag and ordered everyone inside the bank down on the floor. He then obtained an undisclosed amount of money from the teller area and fled on foot, police said. No shots were fired and no one was injured, Byrne said. The man fled on foot. A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty Thursday to six counts of bank robbery—half of the robberies happened in Abington. Aaron Thomas, 47, of the 100 block of North 54th Street of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty Thursday to six counts of bank robbery, U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger said in a U.S. Department of Justice press release. The robberies date back to May 2009, but the most recent robbery happened Aug. 10, 2012; it ended chase and a crash in Philadelphia in which a police dog later had to be euthanized. Police said a man held up a PNC Bank in the Jenkintown section of Abington Saturday morning.
A man wearing an old-school Phillies hat allegedly robbed an Old York Road bank Saturday morning. According to police, a man held up the PNC bank located at 123 Old York Road in the Jenkintown section of Abington at about 11:35 a.m. The man allegedly handed the bank clerk a blue bag and a note indicating that he had a gun. It also said to, "give me the money,” police said. The teller put an undisclosed amount of cash in the provided bag and the alleged robber fled on foot, police said. The man is described as brown-skinned, about 6-feet tall with a husky build. He was last seen wearing a mustard-colored Carhartt type coat and a burgundy-colored Phillies baseball cap. Police: Bank robbery suspect ‘purposely struck’ Abington Police vehicle in Philly; no one seriously injured.
Abington Police arrested a Philadelphia man earlier today who allegedly robbed a PNC bank at about 11:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Old York Road. According to police, the suspect placed a bag on the counter of the bank, demanded money, and fled in a dark Range Rover. He gave chase through Philadelphia, according to an Abington Police press release. See the initial story here. Aaron K. M. Thomas, 47, of the 100 block of North 54th Street, Philadelphia, was arrested and transported to Abington Police headquarters following the chase. He was charged with robbery and related charges and is awaiting arraignment.
