Police Renew Search For Killer in 1968 Murder

The body of the victim, a 20-year-old U.S. Marine, was only positively identified earlier this year.

Late on the morning of November 18, 1968, 44 years ago this Sunday, a Pennsylvania State Police trooper patrolling the Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Downingtown interchange came upon a man in a seated position along the side of the roadway. The trooper stopped to check on the man's well being. The man, who carried no identification, was dead. He had been stabbed once through the heart. A tattoo on his arm of a helmeted bulldog with the letters "USMC" below it strongly suggested that he'd once been in the Marine Corps, but authorities had no other clues to his identity. He was interred as a John Doe, and four decades passed. On the Doe Network, Pennsylvania Missing Persons [editor's note: links include coroner's photographs that may …

Urban Terrorists Crippled by Grand Jury

Montco DA announces the arrest of 10 members of the Norristown-based "Gangsta Killer Bloods."

On Wednesday morning, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman announced the arrest of 10 alleged members of the "Gangsta Killer Bloods," including the alleged leader of the gang, 23-year-old Augustus Anthony Simmons, of Brooklyn, NY. The arrests cap off six months of work by a Montgomery County investigative grand jury, who traced the alleged criminal enterprise back to Simmons' arrival in Norristown in July of 2010. "When Simmons came in last summer, his goal was to organize criminals on the streets behind him," said Ferman. "He came down with the purpose of establishing and solidifying a Blood set in Montgomery County." A large scale investigation was launched on Dec. 15 2010, after a pair of fire-bombings on Stanbridge Street. …
