Players from Lansdale, Glenside, Norristown get their Frisbee on.
It's just a simple, plastic disc, but don't tell that to the hundreds of local players that take the game quite seriously. Sunday's match-up in Plymouth Whitemarsh was proof positive that something as basic as a Frisbee can get the fans moving. According to the Times Herald, "Ultimate" as it is known to fans "is something of a hybrid between soccer and football, only instead of a ball, flying plastic is used." Sunday, a match-up between Philadelphia Spinners and the New York Rumble was hosted at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. In the day's game, Norristown resident Jack Casey, Lansdale natives Mike and David Baer and Jonah Wisch from Glenside all played, according to the Herald. The team promoted its event prior to the match-up at area …

A horror-inspired art show gets Montco residents in the Halloween mood.
This weekend, those in the mood for something "spook-tacular" had a treat at the Tell-Tale Art Show at Lansdale's Third and Walnut Bar. The art by Amy Rim lived up to its namesake. The non-smoking ballroom featured a cash bar and many guests in costume, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and the looming holiday. See our full gallery by Patch Photographer Kristen McMaster.

Authorities say "bath salts" and other synthetic drugs were sold in three states from an Allentown-based distributor.
The owner of an Allentown distribution business and the operators of five gas stations and convenience stores in Montgomery and Lehigh counties are among 15 people who have been arrested in connection with an organization that allegedly distributed "bath salts" and other synthetic drugs throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, authorities said Thursday. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman said the arrests were the culmination of a year-long investigation involving the Lehigh County District Attorney's office and a number of municipal police forces in both counties. Ferman described Kenneth Zak Grossman, 52, of Allentown, the owner of J & L Wholesale Distributors, as the "head" of the organization, which authorities …

Lansdale Borough Council will lobby Harrisburg to prevent a proposed name change by Towamencin Township of the Lansdale Pennsylvania Turnpike exit from Lansdale to Kulpsville
Towamencin Township Supervisors plan to ask the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to change the name of the Lansdale interchange of Interstate 476 to Kulpsville. Lansdale Borough says not so fast. According to The Reporter Online, Towamencin Township Supervisors Chairman Dan Littley said supervisors expect the PTC to agree with the request and revert the name back to Kulpsville as it was up until the late 1970s. Littley was quoted in The Reporter as such: “Too many officials come to this community and welcome everyone to Lansdale. We are not Lansdale.” At the June 20 Lansdale Borough Council meeting, councilman Jack Hansen proposed a vote for the borough to lobby Harrisburg to prevent the name change. Council then voted unanimously to do …
