Eastern Center for Arts and Technology’s Cosmetology Clinic is open to the public.
As recently as April 6, Erika Rambo, an Eastern Center for Arts and Technology cosmetology student and Abington Senior High School senior, held a public cosmetology clinic in order to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It has provided this service to the public for the last 25 years, on a first come, first serve basis, according to a recent Eastern press release. Eastern Cosmetology students are available most Thursdays and Fridays to provide hair, nail and skin services to the general public for a small fee in between the hours of 8 to 10 a.m. and 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. According to the release, the only cost to the client is the cost of the product to the school. An Abington High School and Eastern Center for Arts and Technology graduate landed a job doing what she loves in Glenside. BillieJo Goudy, a 2012 graduate, is currently working at New Waves Salon. Goudy began working at the salon as a first-year student in Eastern’s cosmetology program. Goudy received her Pennsylvania cosmetology license in September and is now working on building her clientele — she’s also attending Montgomery County Community College. Goudy’s cousin took Eastern’s cosmetology program when BillieJo was in seventh grade and used her as a model for one of her projects. She said it was at that point that her love of the cosmetology field blossomed. Her main interest is in hair care and coloring and styling. Goudy said she …

Gregory Garvin is the April 2012 Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology in Willow Grove. He is in his second year of Eastern’s collision repair technology program and a senior at Abington High School. Garvin maintains an A average in his collision repair technology program and is active in SkillsUSA as the Collision Repair Technology 2011-12 Class Treasurer. He received second place for collision repair technology at the SkillsUSA District Competition held earlier this year at the Western Center for Technical Studies in Limerick. Eastern Center for Arts and Technology Landscape Contracting student, and Upper Dublin High School senior, Gabriel Wasserman, is working on an interesting and extremely eye-opening senior project. He is in the process of organizing an assembly targeted at ninth and 10th grade students, with the goal of helping to break the stereotypes that engulf career and technical high schools such as Eastern. In his assembly, to be held in April, he hopes to shed some light on some misconceptions regarding career and technical education. The Kiwanis of Old York Road held its annual Holiday Breakfast to raise funds for an Eastern culinary student's scholarship.
The Kiwanis of Old York Road held its annual Holiday Breakfast at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology. The breakfast is one of Kiwanis of Old York Road’s biggest fundraisers of the year, attracting an average of 200 people each year. Sales from tickets go toward a scholarship for one an Eastern Culinary Arts student.
