Abington HS was ranked 1152 out of 2,000 by Newsweek.
Newsweek released its list of the nation's top high schools, looking at student's college readiness and focusing on "graduation rates, participation in college-level classes via Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, and acceptance into a two- or four-year college program,"according to the report on The Daily Beast. Abington Senior High School, at 900 Highland Ave, Abington, was ranked 1152 out of 2,000 high schools across the country this year. According to the report, Abington has a 92% graduation rate, with 91% of graduates heading to a institution of higher education. Cheltenham Township will hold an electronic collection event on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Cheltenham High School. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and residents are encouraged to bring "anything with a plug." The event is open to everyone, not just Cheltenham residents. All household electronics including computers, printers, microwaves, air-conditioners, metals and small appliances will be accepted. Now is a great time to responsibly recycle any unwanted electronic devices hanging around the house. Small business owners with fewer than 50 employees are also eligible to participate. Ramon Luis Cintron was charged with indecent sexual assault following an alleged incident in his school office with a 14-year-old girl.
Cheltenham Police arrested a man who holds a contract for athletic training services with Cheltenham High School on allegations that he had indecent sexual contact with a 14-year-old female student. Ramon Luis Cintron, 29, of Philadelphia, was charged with institutional sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, and related charges after the victim told detectives that Cintron had unwelcome sexual contact with her in his office at the school on April 12, according to an April 17 Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office press release.
