Butterflies at Briar Bush Starts Today

The butterfly house at Briar Bush Nature Center opens Friday; the moths are not happy.

  If you’re a fan of having insects flying around you, or even crawling on you, hit up Briar Bush Nature Center starting Friday. OK … that sounded awful. If you like interesting, colorful butterflies, the Briar Bush Nature Center butterfly house opens Friday. That’s better. The wooden structure located just outside the nature center, will be filled with monarch and painted lady butterflies, many of which were donated by local schools.   Ehren Gross, Briar Bush environmental educator and butterfly house coordinator, said the butterfly house first opened five years ago, and has been growing in popularity since. Butterfly House in Effect

The attraction is now in its third year

The Briar Bush Nature Center will hold the season opening of its Butterfly House Saturday, June 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. In its third year, the Butterfly House showcases caterpillars, native flowers, plants — and butterflies. The official grand opening will also include a hike along the trails to search for more butterflies and other pollinators that live in the forest. The Butterfly House will be open daily when the museum is open, through the end of September. The Briar Bush Nature Center is located at 1212 Edge Hill Road, Abington.
