Schwartz names campaign staff for 2014 primary run at PA governor.
It's no secret that U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, (D-Montgomery), is making a run at the 2014 Pennsylvania's governor race. Now, the campaign staff isn't being kept quiet either. Pennsylvania State Senator Daylin Leach announced Tuesday that he will seek election to U.S. Congress in the 13th Congressional District in 2014, hoping to succeed Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D). Schwartz has announced her own intention to challenge incumbent Tom Corbett for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2014. Leach, calling himself the “Liberal Lion of Pennsylvania” in a YouTube video announcing his candidacy, represents Norristown, Upper Merion, Conshohocken, and much of the Main Line area in the State Legislature. She admitted it. Allyson Schwartz told the Philadelphia Daily News "It is my intention" to run for governor against incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett. After months of speculating such, it is nearing the stages of being totally official. Schwartz, who currently serves as the U.S. Representative for the 13th District, which encompasses much of Montgomery County, said she plans to throw her hat into the ring for the 2014 race. The rep told USA Today that she is dissappointed in Corbett's term due to the "lack of leadership, vision and effectiveness of this governor." Over the course of the week, Patch has outlined just a handful of the many departments in Montgomery County that may be impacted should sequester go into action. On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz joined a bipartisan group of 53 Senators and Representatives to introduce the Marketplace Fairness Act, HR 684, which gives states the ability to require online companies that do not have a physical presence in the state to collect and remit state sales tax. The Marketplace Fairness Act would ensure that local retailers are able to compete with out-of-state internet retailers and would prevent states from losing hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue every year.
