Alleged Fraudulent Business Practices in Huntingdon Valley

Police said a man took a $500 advance to perform a tree service ... and never showed up.

A Philadelphia man never showed up to perform tree services in the yard of a Huntingdon Valley home after receiving an advanced payment for the work, police said. A criminal complaint was filed March 26 against Joshua D. Huber, 31, of Longshore Street, Philadelphia, after he solicited a resident in the 200 block of Margaretta Avenue in the Huntingdon Valley section of the township and offered to cut down some trees on the complainant’s property in January, police said. According to police, the complainant agreed to have two trees cut down and paid $250 for the service. Huber performed the service without incident. About a day after the initial service, police said Huber appeared at the residence again soliciting additional services. …

Abington Honors its 'Favorite ADA'

The Abington Police Department honors former Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney John Walko.

Abington Police Deputy Chief John Livingood, speaking to the Abington Board of Commissioners and the audience last week, said that John Walko kept strange hours and was silly enough to give Abington detectives his personal phone number … and that’s part of the reason he was “Abington’s favorite ADA.” The Abington Police Department honored former Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney John Walko at the March 14 meeting. Walko, an Abington resident, left the district attorney’s office in early March after working there since June 2008. Though Walko’s a relatively young guy — he graduated from West Virginia University in 2002 and then went on to Villanova law school — the district attorney’s office wasn’t the first stop in his career. …

Person Allegedly Steals Hundreds in Razors

Justin Person stole hundreds of dollars in razors over two months, police say.

Police arrested a Philadelphia who allegedly stole more than $1,400 in disposable razors. Justin James Person, 30, of Halstead Street, was arrested last month after a loss prevention officer at the Giant food store in the 700 block of Huntingdon Pike saw Person placing $184 worth of disposable razors in his backpack, police said.  An investigation revealed that Person had been to the same Giant and stolen merchandise on six separate occasions, according to police.  Police said Person stole $300 worth of boxes of razors from the store on Jan. 13; $240 worth of razors on Jan. 22; $375 worth of razors on Feb. 1; $400 worth of razors on Feb. 5 and attempted to steal $184 worth of razors on Feb. 15. Man Caught with his Pants Down at the 19th Hole, Police Say

A Willow Grove man was arrested and charged with open lewdness and aggravated assault, according to police.

Police arrested a man who was allegedly masturbating … and then allegedly rammed a police car in the 19th Hole Lounge parking lot Douglas J. Perrine, 39, of Greenhill Road, was arrested Feb. 16 shortly after 1 a.m. after a police officer saw a beige Ford Edge parked and idling with its lights off in the parking lot of the lounge in the 3000 block of Jenkintown Road in Ardsley. According to police, it appeared that the operator, later identified as Perrine, was slumped over the steering wheel. Phils Hat Robber May be Linked to Philly Incident

The man allegedly robbed a bank in Abington last Saturday.

Abington Police Deputy Chief John Livingood said the man who held up a bank last Saturday may be linked to a bank robbery in Philadelphia. While police have yet to capture the man who allegedly robbed a PNC bank on Old York Road on Saturday, Livingood said Abington Police is working the investigation with the FBI. “Typically we notify the FBI [following a bank robbery], and sometimes they respond, and we share information with them,” Livingood said. “We’re looking into other bank robberies in the area, and there’s a good chance the guy who has robbed banks in the city over the course of the year could be our guy.” Livingood said there is also a serial bank robber who has hit up banks in the Chestnut Hill section of the city, but added that…
