Two Philadelphia women were arrested after allegedly fighting in front of an Abington McDonald’s. Natasha Scott, 22, of Pennsgrove Street; and Breshay India Lewis, 18, of North Smedley Street, were arrested May 1 at about 7 p.m. after police said both of them were fighting outside the McDonald’s on Old York Road. According to police, Lewis and Scott quickly exchanged slaps and punches; police told the two defendants to break it up, and a police officer grabbed Scott in an attempt to break up the fight. Lewis continued to punch Scott even after police had pushed Lewis back several times, police said. A police officer then sprayed Lewis in the face with two bursts of pepper spray. Abington police arrested a Willow Grove man after he attempted to pick up his father’s car. Antonio Orlina, 24, of Decatur Avenue, was arrested after he went to retrieve his father’s car after his father was arrested during a traffic stop for having an outstanding warrant, police said. According to police, the stop happened in early March near the corner of Welsh Road and Coolidge Avenue. Police said Orlina didn’t want his father’s vehicle to be towed. Police, knowing that Orlina also had an outstanding warrant, waited by the vehicle and attempted to arrest him. The Abington Board of Commissioners honored Deputy Chief John Livingood and Detective Sgt. Steve Fink Thursday night.
The Abington Board of Commissioners on Thursday night honored Detective Sgt. Steve Fink and Deputy Chief John Livingood with Class III Commendations for their respective roles in arresting a northeast Philadelphia man allegedly involved in 30 burglaries. Abington was part of a multi-agency taskforce that helped arrest Derrick Carter, of the 4600 block of Sheffield Avenue. Livingood thanked the Upper Dublin Police Department as well as the Pennsylvania State Police. See the initial story from November here. According to Livingood, Carter burglarized residential properties in the daytime, prying in the front or rear door usually. He took jewelry and electronics, including TVs and likely acted with at least one accomplice.

A Philadelphia man allegedly tried to squeeze money out a Huntingdon Valley resident following an agreement to move furniture, but the resident wasn’t budging ... quite literally. Devin Phillips, 34, of Beaumont Avenue, was charged with felony criminal mischief, theft and related charges after he allegedly smashed a moving truck into a Melmar Road resident’s car and left with about $10,000 worth of the victim’s belongings. The Philadelphia woman had been working at the Abington Post Office since January, according to police.
A U.S. Postal employee working at the Abington Post Office was arrested this week after she allegedly stole $500 and several gift cards while on the job. Abington Police arrested Jamie Pamela Fletcher, 25, of Chew Avenue, Philadelphia, on Tuesday, April 23, following a joint investigation with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General. According to police, the Office of Inspector General reached out to Abington authorities on April 12, saying that it believed Fletcher, a U.S. Postal employee, had been stealing from the mail. According to police, Fletcher voluntarily surrendered and was charged with theft and related charges; she was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. Abington Police arrested an Elkins Park man following a crash last month in Willow Grove. Jeremy Helstrom, 37, of Anselm Road, was arrested March 2 at about 7:45 a.m. shortly after he crashed into a utility pole in the 1700 block of Fitzwatertown Road while driving a silver Nissan Pathfinder, police said. According to police, Helstrom fled southbound on Fitzwatertown Road in his vehicle after he crashed into the pole; he was ultimately stopped near the corner of Fitzwatertown and Susquehanna roads.
