Board Honors Abington Soccer

The Abington High School varsity soccer team was the lowest seeded team to ever win a district championship.

The Abington Board of Commissioners last night honored the Abington Senior High School varsity soccer team with a certificate of commendation for winning the District One Class AAA Championship in November. Commissioner Richard Gaglianese presented the award. Coach Randy Garber, who has never won a championship, said he was “here because of the players” and thanked the board for the commendation.  Garber said the league in which Abington plays is difficult. The team finished fourth in the standings in the regular season. The team was seeded 19th out of 28 teams in tournament play and was the lowest seeded team to ever win a championship; the team played all of its games “away.” Garber said Abington beat Harrington, Central Bucks South, …
