Man Allegedly Throws Weed at Cop, and More Police Reports

A Philly man is arrested on drug charges and more Abington Police reports

Possession of a controlled substance … Richard George Liggins, 44, of West Huntingdon Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Feb. 6 at 9:27 p.m. following a traffic stop for a malfunctioning brake light near the corner of Moreland and Davisville roads in which he was a passenger, police said. When police made contact with Liggins, he allegedly removed a small amount of suspected marijuana from his pants and threw it out the window at the officer’s feet. When asked what he did, Liggins said, “[Expletive], I can’t believe I just threw weed at the cops.” When asked if he had any more contraband, Liggins allegedly said, “I got a little rock down my pants,” and police retrieved a small clear bag of confirmed crack. Police Reports: Two DUI Arrests

Abington Police arrested the following people for suspected DUI.

  Graham Sebastien Skelly, 19, of Blake Avenue, Rockledge, was arrested Feb. 3 at 5:31 a.m. following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Susquehanna Road, police said. According to police, Skelly said he was lost and was looking for Huntingdon Pike. Skelly was lethargic and slow to respond, and there was a very strong odor of air freshener in the car, police said. Skelly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier at a friend’s house; Sklley failed several field sobriety tests, had a blood alcohol content of 0.102 percent and his blood tested positive for the presence of marijuana, police said. Man Had Crack Pipe in Grocery Store, Police Say

Possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct … Cornell Bryant Garrett, 51, of Hilltop Lane, Wyncote, was arrested Jan. 23 at 1:24 p.m. near Acme in the 300 block of Old York Road after he attempted to steal several items from a shopping cart, police said. According to police, Garrett had a four-inch crack pipe in his possession. Garrett has been arrested more than 10 times for theft and drug-related charges dating back to 2003. Conway, 53, of Stratford Avenue, Abington, was arrested Jan. 6 at 9:16 p.m. following a two-vehicle crash near the corner of Old Welsh and Easton roads, police said. No one was injured.   Criminal mischief and disorderly conduct … An arrest warrant was issued Dec. 30 for Wayne B. Bickel, 22, of Wanamaker Road, Jenkintown, after a witness said he saw Bickel vandalizing his friend’s Audi in the 400 block of Tulpehocken Avenue on Dec. 24, police said. According to police, the witness said he saw Bickel jumping on top of the car and kicking the car on all sides. There were several dents on the car and the car’s roof was caved in.   DUI and reckless endangerment … Laurie Gillespie, 38, of Huntingdon Road, Abington, was arrested Dec. 5 at 5:45 p.m. following a crash in the corner of Old York and Rockwell roads after Gillespie turned left in front of another motorist who was driving southbound on Old York Road, police said. According to police, the occupants of the car driving southbound were transported to Abington Memorial Hospital for their injuries. Gillespie had glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, police said. She was also unaware of her surroundings, unsteady on her feet and appeared highly intoxicated. Some 'weed' in pill form and a DUI after a hearty lunch

  Drug possession … Tariq Laquan Clinton, 21, of Kindred Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 14 following a traffic stop near the corner of Old York Road and Summit Avenue for having a malfunctioning brake light on his black SUV, police said. According to police, there was an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Clinton admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and said he believed he had marijuana in his pocket. Prior to a search, Clinton said the marijuana was in the vehicle’s center console. Police found no marijuana, rather a pill bottle containing 26 Xanax pills. A couple of DUIs and some strange retail thefts

  Retail theft … Shakeeta Kimberly Williams, 27, of Ontario Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. after she stole two Burberry coats (worth a total of $990) and one Michael Kors Coat (worth a total of $250) from Bloomingdale’s and fled in a red Chevy Monte Carlo, police said. According to police, Williams was stopped by Jenkintown Police in the corner of Old York Road and Greenwood Avenue. The merchandise was recovered. Retail theft … Rasheed Roache, 32, of North 20th Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 26 at 2:20 p.m. after Roache concealed $498 worth of merchandise from the Willow Grove Park mall and left without attempting to pay, police said.   DUI … Patricia Stubel, 57, of Jericho Road, Abington, was arrested Oct. 23 at 1:42 a.m. following a traffic stop near the corner of Easton Road and Mildred Avenue after she was seen swerving and touching the double yellow lines, police said. According to police, Stubel smelled moderately of alcohol and there was a strong smell of perfume emanating from the vehicle. There was a bottle of perfume in plain view, but Stubel denied recently spraying it. Stubel said she had two beers. She had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
