Why are we getting Philly news on a Pgh community site.? What hapened to local coverage?. That isRead More what made Patch such a unique useable site.
PS April 7, 2014 at 04:13 pm
Something must be linked wrong with this story because your Pittsburgh comments are showing up onRead More our Philly suburb patch...
Mike Jones April 7, 2014 at 04:50 pm
There's nothing wrong. This is the new delocalized Patch. They've cross-published this story to allRead More websites in Pennsylvania. That's why you're seeing everyone's comments. For some reason, the people in New York City think we Pittsburghers give a hoot about the Phillies getting rained out.
It's our national pastime. Should it be a national holiday, too? (Patch file photo)
Diane Berl April 1, 2014 at 03:03 pm
No holiday!!!! Our children already score lower than other countries in education. They don't needRead More anothe lame excuse to miss school.
Andrew April 1, 2014 at 04:53 pm
Baseball isn't the national pastime anymore. So no, no holiday.

Boy! This writer sure has a gift for dreaming big! Money must grow on trees.............. perhapsRead More its just a slow news day

Forget the time - the kid played high school basketball, which was against the rules. He took theRead More opportunity to win 10K from someone else and gets rewarded for it. Lame.
Gina TB February 20, 2014 at 11:24 pm
If he had to make the shots on the 1st try then why did they allow him the 2nd shot? after heRead More missed the 1st half court shot that should have been the end. Publicity shot or not i commend Pizza Hut for stepping up to award him the $10k. I hope that Jack uses that money and pays if forward some day.
ron February 21, 2014 at 02:17 pm
They did not let him take a second shot. The ball just took a bounce right back to him so he quickRead More threw up a second shot. The bottom line was he lost and that should have been the end of it. There should have been no whining or complaining. Maybe Pizza Hut should give 10K to all the prior contestants whom lost but at least followd the rules and did not complain.

That was rude. I, who not a sentimental person, enjoyed reading Ms. Treacy's article. It wasRead More quite benign.

What a mean-spirited comment. You feel better about yourself as a person now?

Obviously this is the first reading this responder has taken the time to read by Melissa. They needRead More to be seasoned and realize that this lets us reflect what we have already encountered with our children. Don't take it to heart keep writing all these amusing tales. I can't help to think what the responder would have said about your road trip story and car sickness! Shake it off. It takes all kinds. :) Melissa, this baseball phase may be short lived. My son joined little league during slow pitch ( machine) age. When he moved on to the actual pitcher, watched the pitcher hit the batter - during practice, he was done. Never to return to the field. If not anything else, as long as she keeps her mother's enthusiasm in her life, she will be just fine.

@inerested by stander, I have zero problem with living across from Lehigh's Goodman campus. TheyRead More take beautiful care of their properties. It is the lowlifes who take advantage of the free space, visits to camp, attendance at soccer matches that ruin it. I am not saying everyone, I am saying lowlifes, you know who you are. @ Carol unfortunatly you don't know what you are talking about. We have had visitors to Eagles camp park in our cul de sac every year of camp. Maybe they don't want to be stuck in the traffic leaving camp, maybe they don't want to pay to park, I don't know why they do it. I do know that one year when they had a special day for kids I had nine people park on my driveway at my invitaition. They all were coming into the cul de sac because traffic was so backed up they were already missing some of what was happening for their kids. There was no where left to park in our cul de sac. Please don't tell me you know about these things. I am here every day, I am sure you are not. Sorry to dissapiont you, but our neighborhood is not a gated community. We are normal people with normal homes. I was born and raised in a city and would go back in a heart beat if I could convince my husband, I like living in a concrete jungle, so no, I have no problem with "city" people. I do have a problem with lowlifes who don't care about the carbon footprint they leave behind. Hate to break your heart, but I have never gone to musikfest so why don't you shut up about it.

I AM SO GLAD THEY ARE HOLDING TRAINING CAMP IN SOUTH PHILADELPHIA, WHERE THEY BELONG ! No moreRead More driving to hicksville!

I must say that Mary Anne Looby made this thread an interesting read. No one incites bitterRead More responses than she does. She should have written this story because I already forgotten who the author was.
