Whole Foods Grills for Abington

On Sunday, the Whole Foods Market 'Giving Grill' will benefit the Abington Joint Town Watch Council.

On Sunday, July 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the “Giving Grill” at Whole Foods Market on The Fairway will be grilling for Abington.

All of the proceeds from the cookout will benefit the Abington Joint Town Watch Council.

The Joint Town Watch Council organization — which was formed in the ’80s — assists the several Town Watch groups that operate in different sections of the township. Recently, the council has added block watches to augment town watchers, which focus on a specific block.

Though the Council is staffed by volunteers, the council has expenses to cover, such as putting on the annual community block party Abington Pre-Night Out.

The Giving Grill will sell a variety of burgers, including portabello mushroom and veggie, as well as hotdogs. Representatives from Abington Joint Town Watch Council will man a booth at the event for people to visit and learn about their efforts to contribute to a safer community.

Whole Foods initiated the idea of having its July Giving Grill benefit the Council.  Whole Foods marketing specialist and community liaison Dana Sommers said, “We are preparing for a big grill and are very excited to raise money for this good cause.”

Whole Foods Market is located at 1575 The Fairway, Jenkintown.
