This Bud's for ... Abington

The Glenside Inter-Service Council Community Service Award goes to ...

 

Charles (Bud) Gerhard III was recently honored with the 52nd Glenside Inter-Service Council Community Service Award for his leadership and devoted volunteer service to the community. Gerhard has volunteered his time to organizations such as the , the Abington YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, , Susan G. Komen For the Cure, the Breathing Room Foundation and the Weldon Fire Co., where he has volunteered for over 40 years. He is currently the Chief of the Weldon Fire Co., overseeing 40 active firemen who average 450 calls a year.

In 1960, the service clubs in the Glenside area joined together to honor someone in the community that performed service that was not part of his or her occupational duties. That person does not have to belong to a service club. The award banquet is held in November to coincide with Thanksgiving.
