ACT to Hold 'Citizens That Care'

The annual event will be held April 26 at the North Hill Country Club.

 

The Abington Community Taskforce, a nonprofit, community-based corporation comprising more than 30 major community organizations, will hold its annual Citizens That Care Recognition Reception April 26 at the North Hills Country Club.

The event will honor people and organizations who positively impact the lives of children and teenagers.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Abington Library’s children’s department for its renowned reading programs
  • John “Woody” McGoldrick, a 43-year Abington School District employee
  • Bob Salerno, a long-time Abington Police Athletic League volunteer and advisor
  • Sunday Morning Crew, a men’s group that has provided more than $270,000 in scholarships to youth
  • School board member S. Shirley Weiss will be honored with the Community Builder Award.

Last year, honorees included Debra Laub Jack; Taylor Appel, Mark Penecale and Abington Police Chief William Kelly.

The evening includes hors d’oeuvres and a dinner buffet.  Reservations start at $60 per person with levels of support ranging to $2,500. Those making reservations at $100 per person or more will be listed in the program.  There are also advertising opportunities, including business cards for $50 and In Honor/In Memory of listings for $40.

Proceeds from the event benefit ACT’s website, abingtonact.org, and help the organization provide programs and services.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the North Hills Country Club, 99 Station Ave., North Hills.
