PSU Abington Student is NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior setter Krysten Boyd helped Penn State Abington clinch a playoff berth.

 

Senior Krysten Boyd, of Philadelphia, and graduate of Lincoln High School, has been named as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after her outstanding play for the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions. 

The senior setter compiled 145 digs (6.90 d/set) during a 3-2 week for the Nittany Lions, which included 104 digs (8.00 d/set) in three conference matches.  During NEAC Crossover play held at Penn State Abington this weekend, Boyd tallied a season-best 37 digs in a 3-1 victory over SUNY Cobleskill Saturday before topping that mark with 39 digs in a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Keuka later in the day. She finished conference play with 28 digs in a 3-1 win over Cazenovia Sunday.  Boyd, who also registered six serve aces and a solo block on the week, currently ranks third in the conference in both digs (427) and digs per set (4.85).

For the season, Boyd has posted 40 assists 462 digs with 49 service aces, 15 kills, and 462 digs thus far.

Abington (17-9, 6-5 NEAC) clinched the final playoff berth and will advance NEAC Conference championship in two weeks. This is the first time in program history that volleyball has qualified for the conference postseason playoffs since joining the NEAC in 2009.
