PSU Abington Names New Athletic Director

Shawne McCoy to join staff on Feb. 4.

We are ... getting a new AD.

Penn Staters at the Abington campus will soon have a new athletic director (AD). Shawne McCoy, according to ReadMedia, will begin his new role officially of Feb. 4. Chancellor Dr. Karen Wiley Sandler announced the new AD to succeed Dr. Karen Weaver, who stepped down on Dec. 31, 2012 to pursue a faculty post at Drexel University after six years at Penn State Abington.

"I am excited and honored to be selected as the new director of athletics, intramurals and recreation at Penn State Abington," said McCoy. "I would like to thank Chancellor Sandler, Gale Siegel, and the entire search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity. I look forward to working with our coaches, staff and faculty to help provide our student-athletes with the best possible experience that they can have."

The Nittany Lions will have to look past his hometown. He was born and raised in Wolverine territory.

"The Evart, Michigan native is a 1998 graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor's in economics and a minor in sports studies. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University," said the ReadMedia release.

Most recently, McCoy was the assistant AD at St. Mary's College of Maryland for the last six years.

Take the easy way out - for about $20 plus or minus with tip go to the Mexican guys in Quakertown.Read More They are on the south bound side where the old battery warehouse was - directly across from the big car wash on 309. They did my SUV for $25 including generous tip - inside and out, dressed the tires and did the windshield about 3 times! These guys are fantastic and really do a great job for the money.
