Abington School Board, Draft Agenda for May 22

The Abington School Board will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the administration building.

Abington school district musical groups will be congratulated for their performances at the recent Hershey Music in the Parks competition. The following groups won first-place awards:

  • Senior High School Chorus
  • Junior High School Chorus
  • Junior High School Band
  • Junior High School Orchestra

The junior and senior high schools also won Esprit de Corps Award for outstanding school spirit, deportment, and congeniality.

Thirty-eight students from the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology competed in their skill areas at the SkillsUSA State Competition held at the Hershey Convention Center. Congratulations to Gold Medal winner Allison Bittner, an Abington Senior High School junior and Eastern commercial art student for winning in the Pin Design category. Gold medal winners will represent Eastern at the national-level competitions to be held in June in Kansas City, Mo.

Four McKinley Elementary School students will be recognized in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s “I Have a Dream” poster contest. The students were selected for how they conveyed Martin Luther King’s message in their posters. Congratulations to:

  • First grader Andrew Moss
  • Second grader Allison Cole
  • Third grader Joseph Harkins and
  • Third grader Johanna Diehl
