An Open Letter to Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is everywhere and it is annoying.

Dear Mrs. Palin,

Please stop. For a while it was funny: the way you speak worse than George W. Bush; the way you look like an attractive librarian; the way you say some pretty nonsensical things and are mostly ignorant of other countries and current events. Now, however, it has just become exhausting. It is difficult to keep up with you as you claim to hate the media and yet serve as a contributor to Fox News and then are also constantly speaking whatever ultra-conservative blather that comes to your head on Facebook and Twitter (Also, stop trying to make political points on social media sites, it trivializes the idea that people put time into their arguments and stances). It has just become too much.

On Facebook you called Obama's actions regarding the budget showdown "apalling" because the troops need to be well funded while we are in three wars. True enough, they do need to be well funded, but what about the $79 billion in research and development? Maybe in these tough times we can cut back on military research and focus on energy research. You know, things that can help America become relevant again in the global economy?

Just browsing the posts from people on your Facebook page it seems as if you attract colorful characters. I am sure many of the people who believe in your message are good people, but those who are attracted to your internet media seem to be paranoid and a little out of touch. One person lamented the "ally" you lost because the Glenn Beck Show was canceled. It is strange when even your supporters can realize that a news network is your ally (stranger still that they are okay with how blatant it is). One person left a message warning of losing our country and providing a link  that claims people in Obama's government are trying to rewrite the Constitution so that it becomes a "Marxist manifesto." Not surprisingly, there is also a post from a person from "Senegal" who wants you and your followers to call or email him (scam much?). This is all in addition to the ramblings of support for typical conservative causes and links to blogs claiming to have evidence that Obama was born in Kenya.

You keep writing books. I've never read any of them, but I did see the titles: Going Rogue and America By Heart. Maybe "going rogue" isn't such a good thing. If you are the only one doing something, chances are you shouldn't be doing it. Also, I doubt you really know "America by heart." If you do then most of what I know about the Constitution and American history is incorrect.

I think the time has come for you to just stop. You are perpetuating the myth that conservatives are sheep that can be easily hearded by anyone who is folksy enough. It is becoming bothersome as I would hope that no such disparaging generalization could be true. At least the polls keep showing that you are not as politically popular as your presence in every form of media would suggest.

Thank you for your time,

Ryan MacNair

P.S. Thank you for mostly keeping away from the Philadelphia area, although that's probably because Flyers fans booed you in 2008.

Newsweek Magazine thinks her influence is quickly fading. Here's a link to the May 1 article http://www.newsweek.com/2011/05/01/is-sarah-palin-over.html

Enough of blaming Bush.. It appears that even the township is biased left leaning politically.. No wonder nothing gets done around here. It is a party favor. If you are DEM you get help Rep get ignored. Even though we all pay property taxes. Obama is only what the Left have build him to be.. A puppet of the unions the left and the radical. Any President that allows the types of people he surrounds himself with Wright Resko, Commond Sorros isn't trust worthy.

By the way.. I am not a Sarah Palin fan.. She wore thin. She says the same thing. I want a Strong Country township and community. We need people that work for all of us, Not just the ones they agree with...

I'm not sure I was blaming Bush. That would just be beating a dead horse at this point. I am not taking a stance really on the left v. right spectrum although if I were you I would take a look at the state government and its current strong right leanings if you still wish to complain about being ignored. For the most part, I just wanted to express my supreme annoyance with Sarah Palin, not Republicans in general or George Bush.
