Woman Arrested after Crashing Funeral Procession, Police Say

Abington Police arrested a Huntingdon Valley woman after they say she drove into a funeral procession, inside a cemetery, that she was not a part of.

Diane L. Konopka, 59, of Moredon Road, was arrested Sept. 24 shortly before 2 p.m. after police received a call from an employee of Lawnview Cemetery in the 500 block of Cedar Road. According to police, the employee said that an intoxicated woman, later identified as Konopka, drove a red pickup truck into a funeral procession; while the employee was on the phone with police, Konopka drove off — with difficulty — and parked next to the cemetery’s maintenance shed, police said.

When police made contact with Konopka, she was extremely inebriated, lethargic, had trouble moving and was slumped over, partially in the passenger-side seat, police said.
