The fire is under investigation; crews from PECO and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal are on the scene.

Elkins Park Fire Co. Fire Chief Keith Miller said the unnamed firefighter was hospitalized as a precautionary measure.

The fire started at about 1 p.m. in the basement of a home in the 1200 block of Ansley Avenue, near the corner of 12th Street. The fire then spread to the second floor, according to Miller.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, and no one other than the firefighter was injured, Miller said. The large 3-story house is a one-family home.

Crews from about a dozen fire companies, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and PECO were on the scene.

The fire is under investigation and the transformer outside of the large, 3-story home looks like it had been on fire.
