Police vehicles from Abington, Jenkintown, Cheltenham and Springfield police departments were seen staked out and circling the area near Church Road and Station Avenue in Springfield today at about 1:20 p.m.
(Update: Swarms of police vehicles were still circling the area just before 2 p.m.)
According to a police officer sitting in a white unmarked Dodge Charger on Edann Road, the police units are looking for two males as part of a burglary investigation.
Officers at the Springfield Township Police Department building declined to comment on the situation.
There were about 10 police vehicles driving around the area; some of the vehicles were parked, and one police officer was seen walking near Station Avenue.
"How'd you lose them? There are a thousand freaking cops running around everywhere," a woman, holding a walkie-talkie, was overheard saying, jokingly, to an Abington police officer who was sitting in his car in the parking lot of North Hills Train Station.
"They're probably tired by now," the Abington police officer said.
"And they're probably down to their skivvies right now," the woman said.
