Abington Police arrested Emmett Alston Taylor, 26, of Lincoln Drive, Philadelphia, following a crash on Washington Lane in late December.
According to police, Taylor was driving a black 2007 Chevrolet Impala just before 3 a.m. on Dec. 22 when he hit a PECO utility pole and flipped his vehicle. The Impala came to rest — on its roof — about 150 to 200 feet from the utility pole, facing northbound on southbound Washington Lane.
Police said Taylor smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet; Taylor said he had “only two beers” prior to the crash. Taylor’s license and his vehicle’s registration were suspended.
Taylor was removed from the Impala through a driver’s side window and was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital by the Second Alarmers.
Taylor refused a blood test but on Jan. 4, Abington Police obtained a search warrant for Taylor’s blood work. The results came back on Jan. 28 and indicated that Taylor’s blood alcohol content was 0.192 percent, police said.
Taylor does not appear to have a criminal record; his preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25 in front of District Justice Juanita Price.
