Police Brief: Target Thief Found with Methadone, Police Say

An Abington woman was arrested late last month after she allegedly stole merchandise from Target.

Irene N. Papadopoulos, 28, of Grovania Avenue, was arrested Sept. 27 at about 5 p.m. after a Target loss prevention officer saw select several items from the infant's section of the store, walk to the market section of the store and conceal the items in a red purse that she had brought with her, police said. Papadopoulos then walked through the second-level main doors of the store without attempting to pay for the $33 worth of merchandise, police said.

When Papadopoulos was stopped, police said they found an amber prescription bottle in her purse which was labeled "Amphetamine Salts 30 MG" in the name of Papadopoulos. The bottle contained an unknown liquid that Papadopoulos said was methadone, police said.
