Police Brief: Juveniles Allegedly Involved in 'Strong-Arm' Robbery Near Getty Station

Several juveniles were petitioned to juvenile court following an incident late Thursday afternoon near the Getty gas station in the corner of North Hills and Mount Carmel avenues.

According to Abington Police Deputy Chief John Livingood, three Abington residents, aged 15, 16 and 17, attempted a “strong-arm” robbery of several Springfield Township teenagers near the gas station on Oct. 10 at about 5 p.m. No one displayed any weapons, Livingood said, though one of the Abington teenagers grabbed one of the Springfield teenagers in a headlock and stole a cell phone, which has yet to be recovered.

All of the teenagers were released into the custody of their parents; many of the family members of those involved still seemed to be gathered in front of the Abington Township Police Headquarters around 7 p.m.
