Man Stole $40K from Two Abington Athletic Clubs, DA Says

The North Hills man allegedly bilked two local athletic organizations while serving on their respective boards.

Police arrested Michael H. Hrouda, 37, of Cricket Avenue after he allegedly stole a total of about $40,000 from two local children’s sports organizations.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, Hrouda was the treasurer of the Ardsley North Hills Association between June 2010 and July 2012. During that time, Hrouda allegedly made several cash withdrawals, wrote checks from the organization’s account and used the organization’s PayPal account for his own personal expenditures to the tune of $26,000.

Hrouda was also the president and treasurer of the Abington Bulldogs Youth Wrestling Club from 2008 to 2012. During that time, he allegedly withdrew more than $14,000 in cash from the Bulldogs’ accounts for his personal expenditures.

Hrouda was charged with several counts of theft, forgery, access device fraud and receiving stolen property.

Calls to police were not immediately returned.

Hrouda was arraigned today at 10 a.m. in front of District Judge Zaffarano. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30 at 12:15 p.m. in front of Zaffarano.
