Earlier this week, a man admitted to stealing about $200,000 worth of silver from a house in the 1500 block of Warner Road in Abington in 2009, according to an Intelligencer story. The man then sold the silver for a less-solid $800 to a Cheltenham gold and silver dealer, the story continued.
Steven C. Kerrigan, 27, of the 7300 block of Central Avenue, entered an open guilty plea in front of Montgomery County Judge Joseph Smyth, according to the story.
The burglary happened Oct. 21, 2009; a window pane was broken on a side door. Police submitted DNA evidence to the Pennsylvania State Police in November; in August 2011, tests revealed that Kerrigan’s DNA was at the scene.
None of the silver was recovered.
According to court documents, a Steven Christopher Kerrigan with the same address as the defendant in the Rydal burglary, and the same birthday, but three years younger, was arrested by Cheltenham Police for a burglary that happened in September 2006.
