Macy’s Employee Steals Hundreds in Gift Cards, Abington Police Say

The Philadelphia woman was charged with theft and access device fraud after allegedly stealing more than $1K from her employer.

Abington Police arrested a Philadelphia woman after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars from Macy’s, her employer, in gift card form.

Arolynn Antoine, 19, of Rosehill Street, was arrested Nov. 16 at Macy’s in Willow Grove Park mall after police say she confessed to putting $1,200 worth of credit on several gift cards by using cash from the store’s registers between Nov. 8 and Nov. 16.

According to police, Antoine also confessed to using the gift cards to make several purchases, totaling $705, between Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.

Many of the transactions happened on the same day, according to the criminal complaint.

Antoine was charged with theft, retail theft and access device fraud; her preliminary hearing is scheduled for today at 11 a.m. before District Justice Juanita Price.

It does not appear that Antoine has a criminal history, according to court documents.
