Man Sentenced for Stealing $200k in Ag from Rydal Home

The Philadelphia man pleaded guilty in May to an October 2009 burglary in the Rydal section of Abington; police used DNA

 

A Philadelphia man was sentenced this week for stealing about $200,000 worth of 18th-century silver from an Abington residence in 2009.

According to a phillyburbs.com story, Steven Christopher Kerrigan, 27, of the 7300 block of Central Avenue, was sentenced to 11-and-a-half months to 23 months in prison for the burglary of the home in the 1500 block of Warner Road. Kerrigan pleaded guilty in May.

According to the story, Kerrigan broke a windowpane and entry was made on the first floor of the house.

Police submitted DNA evidence to the Pennsylvania State Police; in August 2011 the lab determined that Kerrigan was at the scene. 

According to the story, Kerrigan admitted to selling the silver to a Cheltenham gold and silver dealer for $800. None was recovered.

According to court documents, a Steven Christopher Kerrigan with the same address as the defendant in the Rydal burglary, and the same birthday, but three years older, was arrested by Cheltenham Police for a September 2006 burglary.
