Abington's Boys in ... Pink

Each October, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk to benefit breast cancer research begins at the Willow Grove Park Mall and passes through Abington.  To facilitate the safe passage of hundreds of walkers, the Abington Police have annually provided support.

Abington Police Traffic Safety Officer Al Freed said that the women have always gone out of their way to express their appreciation for the Abington Police support, so he and his fellow officers who work this detail decided they would make an extra effort for the walkers this year.

To honor their efforts, the officers exchanged their dark blue uniform shirts for bright pink shirts, which they wore all day. They also obtained a pink ribbon logo for the hood of their patrol car.
