Abington Police Reports, Sept. 7

The following police reports were taken from the Abington police records room.

DUI and drug possession … Katie Granese, 20, of the 900 block of Maple Avenue, Ardsley, was arrested May 2 at 12:33 p.m. near the corner of Arnold Avenue and Woodland Road following a traffic stop for not using a turn signal, police said. According to police, there were multiple empty heroin packets in plain view in the vehicle, and there was a track mark on Granese’s right arm. Following a search, police found two small, green Ziploc baggies containing suspected marijuana and a partially-rolled marijuana cigarette.

Granese, who was lethargic and unsteady on her feet, said she had smoked marijuana in the morning. Granese’s blood tested positive for the presence of marijuana and morphine.

Aggravated assault and harassment … Anthony P. Baratta, 70, of the 2600 block of Huntingdon Pike, Huntingdon Valley, was arrested Aug. 13 at noon after he punched a nurse at Abington Memorial Hospital in the abdomen after the nurse assisted Baratta, a patient, back into bed, police said. Baratta also yelled an expletive at the nurse, police said.

Retail theft … Michael Patrick Katilas, 30, of the 7400 block of Oxford Avenue, Philadelphia, was arrested Aug. 19 at 4:40 p.m. after he selected four containers of baby formula from Genuardi’s in the 700 block of Huntingdon Pike and left without attempting to pay, police said. The cost of the baby formula was $94.

Felony drug possession with intent to deliver … Robert N. Arkowitz, 25, of the 300 block of Holmes Avenue, Havertown, was arrested Aug. 20 at 10:43 p.m. in the 19th Hole Lounge parking lot in the 3000 block of Jenkintown Road after he was seen sitting in a silver Dodge Stratus with his seat reclined, police said. According to police, Arkowitz gave police permission to search the vehicle. Police found a clear plastic bag sticking out of the passenger-side door card, which contained a block-shaped item wrapped in newspaper. The newspaper had the characters “10” and “2012” written in blue marker—both are markings consistent with the packaging of heroin, according to police.

There were 195 baggies inside the package—all of which contained suspected heroin, police said.

False identification to law enforcement … Lisamarie Wade, 21, of the 200 block of North Easton Road, Glenside, was arrested Aug. 21 at 11:34 a.m. following a traffic stop near the corner of Woodland Road and High Avenue for having an expired registration sticker, police said. According to police, Wade said she lost her license and provided the name of her sister and a fake date of birth. Wade said she borrowed her sister’s ID to return items to Walmart, but later admitted to providing fake information. Wade has never had a Pennsylvania driver’s license, and there was no insurance on her vehicle, police said.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Nicholas Alexander Henry, 27, of the 800 block of Easton Road, Glenside, was arrested Aug. 22 at 2:27 p.m. following a traffic stop for having a malfunctioning brake light near the corner of Easton Road and Menlo Avenue, police said. According to police, Henry gave a fake date of birth. Following a search, police found several pieces of suspected marijuana on the floor of his car, a bag of suspected marijuana, 10 suspected oxycodone pills, and 90 suspected Endocet pills. Henry did not have a prescription for the pills, police said.

Simple assault and disorderly conduct … Arrest warrants were issued Aug. 24 for Keisia McBride-Adams, 39, of the 1900 block of Cambridge Street, Philadelphia, and Jade McClellan, 19, of the 1900 block of Cambridge Street, Philadelphia, following a traffic-related incident near the corner of Old York Road and Rydal Way, police said. According to police, McBride-Adams exited her vehicle and grabbed the victim in a separate vehicle by the throat; McClellan struck a victim in the arm with a large, red metal object. Both suspects fled in a white minivan, police said.

Retail theft … Kimberly Ann Reeder, 41, of the unit block of Rockland Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Aug. 24 at 1:45 p.m. near the corner of Wyncote Road and Washington Lane after she stole several pieces of costume jewelry from Burlington Coat Factory, police said. According to police, Reeder placed the items in a trash bag, and put the bag in her purse. Reeder had an active warrant out of Montgomery County for failure to appear—that case was also a retail theft case involving Burlington Coat Factory, police said.

Carrying a firearm without a license … Julian Chavous, 21, of the 2700 block of Phipps Avenue, Willow Grove, was arrested Aug. 25 at 2:28 a.m. in the 200 block of Keswick Avenue in the Plush parking lot following a call for a disturbance, police said. According to police, three men were seen walking from the building. Chavous was found to have a Glock 27 .40-cal. handgun concealed in his waistband, which was covered by his shirt. He did not have a license for the gun, police said.
