Burglary and criminal trespassing … Monnie Beard, 51, of South 60th Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Feb. 25 after he broke into a doctor’s office on Old York Road on Dec. 27 at 9:53 pm., police said. According to police, an employee at the doctor’s office was working late, went to his car briefly and when he returned, saw Beard rifling through a drawer in the receptionist’s desk. Beard voluntarily came to Abington Police Department to answer questions; he was identified through surveillance video, police said.

DUI and possession of a small amount of marijuana … Frank J. Derrick, of the 2500 block of Fernwood Avenue, Abington, was arrested Jan. 7 at 9:44 p.m. in the 1900 block of Davisville Road following a traffic stop for blowing a red light in the corner of Easton and Old Welsh roads, police said. According to police, there was an extremely strong odor of marijuana emanating from Derrick and his vehicle. His eyes were glassy and he was slow to respond. Derrick said, “You can search the car, there’s nothing in there.”

There was a brown hoodie in the trunk that contained 27.29 grams of confirmed marijuana in a Ziploc bag in the trunk.

Derrick failed a field sobriety test and then admitted to smoking marijuana earlier.

DUI, driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance … Jose Quesada III, 35, of the 1200 block of Thomson Road, Abington, was arrested Jan. 8 at noon following a traffic stop near the corner of Tyson Avenue and Easton Road after he was seen leaving the Lukoil gas station at a high rate of speed and on a flat tire, police said. The vehicle also had the wrong registration tag.

According to police, when asked if he had anything illegal in the vehicle, Quesada handed an officer a blue pen tube with remnants of a white powdery substance inside the tube, suspected to be heroin. Quesada then said he had empty bags of heroin inside is pants pocket.

Police removed four clear plastic bags and four pieces of blue wax paper imprinted with the phrase “super powder.” All eight of the items had remnants of suspected heroin.

Quesada’s eyes were twitching uncontrollably, his hands were shaking and he had to use a metal railing to keep balance. The defendant said he snorted heroin “late last night.” He then failed two field sobriety tests

DUI, tampering with physical evidence and littering … Joseph Gruber III, 20, of the 700 block of East Philip Drive, Phoenixville, was arrested Jan. 18 at 9:41 p.m. near the corner of Barnes and Borbeck streets following a traffic stop after he was seen speeding and dropping chunks of green botanical substance onto the 300 block of Borbeck Street, police said. The defendant also threw a plastic bag on the ground. According to police, the vehicle smelled of marijuana and Gruber had bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils. He was taken into custody and kept yelling out, “I don’t have anything on me.”

Several pieces of the green botanical substance were recovered from the street, police said. It was confirmed as being marijuana. Gruber's blood tested positive for the presence of marijuana. He was released into the custody of a sober person.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana … James Antonio Michaux, 26, of the 2800 block of Woodland Road, Abington, was arrested Jan. 29 at 2:34 a.m. following a report of a suspicious Honda Accord with Washington registration tags parked in the shoulder in the corner of Pershing and Birchwood avenues, police said. According to police, the defendant was a passenger in the vehicle and had a plastic baggie of confirmed marijuana in his pocket.
