Some 'weed' in pill form and a DUI after a hearty lunch

Drug possession … Tariq Laquan Clinton, 21, of Kindred Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 14 following a traffic stop near the corner of Old York Road and Summit Avenue for having a malfunctioning brake light on his black SUV, police said. According to police, there was an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Clinton admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and said he believed he had marijuana in his pocket. Prior to a search, Clinton said the marijuana was in the vehicle’s center console. Police found no marijuana, rather a pill bottle containing 26 Xanax pills. The pill bottle in which they were contained had its label partially torn off, making the patient’s name unreadable, police said.

DUI and careless driving … Daniel Markward, 59, of Stahr Road, Elkins Park, was arrested Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. following a two-vehicle crash in the 800 block of Old York Road, police said. According to police, Markward said he was exiting the Raymour and Flanigan parking lot and attempting to turn left onto southbound Old York Road. He said he did not see the other vehicle, which was driving on southbound Old York Road.

Markward smelled strongly of alcohol and when asked if he had been drinking, Markward said, “No, I haven’t had any alcohol since lunch with my pasta.” Markward was leaning against his vehicle as he spoke. He had bloodshot eyes and very slurred speech. He failed a portable breath test and his blood alcohol content was 0.246 percent, police said.
