Some weird places to hold drug stuff and a very candid DUI arrest

 

DUI and reckless endangerment … Laurie Gillespie, 38, of Huntingdon Road, Abington, was arrested Dec. 5 at 5:45 p.m. following a crash in the corner of Old York and Rockwell roads after Gillespie turned left in front of another motorist who was driving southbound on Old York Road, police said. According to police, the occupants of the car driving southbound were transported to Abington Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

Gillespie had glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, police said. She was also unaware of her surroundings, unsteady on her feet and appeared highly intoxicated.

Police found a bottle of Absolut Apeach vodka next to the driver’s seat, which was half empty.

DUI … Marquis Levar McCoy, 32, of Edgehill Road, Glenside, was arrested Dec. 6 at 12:07 a.m. near the corner of Keswick and Sylvania avenues following a call from a bartender who said a heavily intoxicated man, later identified as McCoy, attempted to get served, police said. According to police, McCoy, upon being denied, entered a silver Hyundai and drove north on Keswick Avenue. McCoy smelled of alcohol, had glassy and bloodshot eyes and had a blood alcohol content of 0.361 percent, police said.

Drug possession … Peter Alba, 20, of Wakefield Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 24 at 1:02 a.m. following a traffic stop near the corner of Elm and Mt. Carmel avenues, police said. According to police, the vehicle, a blue Plymouth Neon, had heavily tinted windows and blue ornamental lighting coming from the undercarriage.

Alba, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had a glass pipe with marijuana residue in his possession and an un-labeled medication bottle containing 50 Oxycodone pills, police said.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Sharif Mekawy, 27, of Robertson Road, West Orange, N.J., was arrested Nov. 23 at 7:51 p.m. after he was seen standing near a box truck, using a metal grinder, in the rear parking lot of the Keswick Theater, police said. According to police, there was also a Ziploc bag on the truck’s tail gate that contained marijuana.

DUI and careless driving … John Fadden, 26, of North Fairhill Street, Philadelphia, was arrested Nov. 22 at 2:41 a.m. near the corner of Easton and Edgehill roads after he was seen driving over the double yellow lines, police said. According to police, Fadden had glassy and bloodshot eyes and smelled of marijuana. Fadden failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.144 percent.

DUI and careless driving … Edward Dyer, 50, of Edgehill Road, Glenside, was arrested Nov. 11 at 8:04 p.m. following a traffic stop after he drove on the front yard of a house in the 2900 block of Limekiln Pike in a blue Dodge Ram, quickly reversed and headed west on Limekiln Pike, screeching his tires, police said. According to police, Dyer smelled of alcohol, had glassy and bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

Dyer said he was “coming from the bar watching the Eagles game.” He also said he had four pints and said, “I admit that I am under the influence.” He failed a field sobriety test, but during the test he said, “Is this really necessary? I admitted that I am under the influence and I admit that I am way over the legal limit.” Dyer’s blood alcohol content was 0.172 and his blood tested positive for the presence of cocaine degradation product.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Danielle Moseley, 38, of Aspen Street, Philadelphia; and Nyima Gallishaw, 29, of Tree Street, Philadelphia, were arrested Nov. 11 at 1:14 a.m. following a traffic stop for driving through a steady red light in the corner of Mt. Carmel Avenue and Limekiln Pike in a Chevrolet Tahoe, police said. According to police, there was an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and there was a blunt on the center console. Gallishaw, a passenger, removed a clear bag of confirmed marijuana from her bra, police said.

Drug possession … Matthew Yerger, 25, of Loch Alsh Avenue, Chalfont, was arrested Nov. 2 at 10:20 a.m. following a traffic stop for tailgating and for driving with a malfunctioning brake light near the corner of Old York and Rockwell roads, police said. According to police, there was a small plastic bag containing a white, rocklike substance in plain view. Yerger also had several small wax paper bags containing an off-white powder in his possession, and syringes in his sneakers. His movements were slow and his eyes were glassy.

On Dec. 28, lab reports indicated that Yerger had cocaine and morphine in his system; the white rocklike substance tested positive for cocaine and the off-white powdery substance tested positive for heroin, police said.
