Alleged Rapist Held After a Year on Run, Police Say

43-year-old held on charges stemming from 2011 incident.

A Bensalem district judge held an Abington man on rape charges following a preliminary hearing Tuesday, according to a Phillyburbs.com story.

Anthony Strother, 43, of Abington, was held on charges stemming from a December 2011 incident in Bensalem. 

According to the story, Bensalem police say that Strother raped an acquaintance at a Knights Road apartment on Dec. 2, 2011. The victim was sleeping. Strother then fled and was discovered in a county jail in Virginia in December 2012.

He was also wanted on a parole violation out of Montgomery County.

Strother was arraigned Dec. 21 and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.
