A Giant Bite, Abington Police Say

Abington Police arrested an Elkins Park woman after she allegedly stole about $130 worth of stuff from Giant Food on Huntingdon Pike ... and then allegedly bit the store's loss prevention officer.

Vanessa A. Fellin, 24, of Holme Avenue, was arrested following the Sept. 7 incident at about 8:15 p.m. According to police, Fellin walked past all of the registers with the merchandise and did not attempt to pay for it.

When she was confronted by the store's loss prevention officer, Fellin began "swinging her fists wildly," according to police, striking the loss prevention officer twice; she then bit the employee on the right forearm, police said.

She was charged with retail theft; simple assault; and robbery causing bodily injury, a felony.

Fellin's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 9:30 a.m. in front of District Judge Juanita Price.
