Foreign Exchange Students Find Dreams Fulfilled, New Friends, and Unique Opportunities in Local Schools

Every year high school students from all over the world spend a year or a semester in an American high school. They live with host families, attend classes and participate - often with great enthusiasm - in school and community activities. Currently Council on International Educational Exchange students from Italy, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the Czech Republic and China are studying at Pennridge , Springfield Township, Plymouth Meeting and Central Bucks high schools. One plays clarinet (she is first chair) of a local youth orchestra, one is an eager chess player in a local chess club, one served on a panel at a national conference on advancing young women around the world. All have been welcomed as "sons" or "daughters" in local host families where they are sharing their native traditions and foods; all have new student peers and friendly teachers involving in uniquely American activities such as cheerleading, baseball, and football. Lifelong friendships are being formed and plans are being made to visit newfound families in distant lands.

You too can share in this exciting and rewarding experience by hosting a student from overseas!  Your own teenagers are not a requirement.  Investigate our website at www.ciee.org/highschool ; to explore hosting an international student, go to www.ciee.org/host .
