Wayne A. ‘Alan’ Crump, Professional Drummer, of Willow Grove

Crump toured with several bands; he was also a SEPTA trolley driver.

Wayne A. "Alan" Crump of Willow Grove, died Friday, Jan. 17, at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 65.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Henry “Chief” Crump and Mabel “Porgie” (Brown) Crump.

Crump was an Overbrook High School graduate, Class of 1965. A drummer, after high school he toured with Sweet Delights, The Ethics, Broadway Express and The Ebonys. Later, he took a job as a trolley driver with SEPTA.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Conroy; three children, Lisa Murphy, Efaye Bailey; and Ryane Crump; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Elaine, Loretta, Vandelyn, Arlene, Sharon, Deborah and Michele; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Henry and Gregory.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove. Interment will be private.
