Louis Ruzicka Jr. died Sunday, Oct. 27. He was 92.
Ruzicka is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gertrude (née Chappell); his son, Louis E; and his two grandsons, Michael L. and James J.
Ruzicka owned, operated and expanded the family business, Louis Ruzicka Florist, in Elkins Park, which his father started in 1917.

An Elkins Park resident said the sign outside the business that usually lists the hours was replaced with one that said, “Mr. Ruzicka passed away on Sunday — he will be missed.”
Ruzicka also served in U.S. Navy during World War II as a member of the Seabees, stationed in Okinawa.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruzicka’s viewing on Thursday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at St. James Church, 8320 Brookside Road, Elkins Park, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
