Joseph R. Clark, Philly Police Officer, of Huntingdon Valley

Joseph R. Clark, of Huntingdon Valley, died Monday, Oct. 14 at his residence. He was 90.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Herman Clark and Anna Clark (née Hoolahan). 

He was the widower of Jean Clark; and the father of Joseph R. Jr., James P., and Neanne B. Jasionowski.

Under his parents’ permission, Clark was permitted to join the U.S. Army in February 1940 at the age of 16. He served in the German campaign and received a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in May 1945.

Clark joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 19560 and served for 26 years.

A viewing will be held Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Ave., Fort Washington. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Open Door.
