John S. Gabel, Cheltenham High School Grad

Gabel was also a Whitemarsh Township Supervisor; his memorial service is scheduled for Saturday.

John S. “Jack” Gabel, of Ocean City, N.J., formerly of Flourtown, died Tuesday, Dec. 31 at Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton. He was 83.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Elva May Starkey Gabel.

Gabel was a Whitemarsh Township Supervisor and was also a member of the Whitemarsh Jaycees and the President of the PTA for Whitemarsh Elementary School.

Gabel was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and Penn State University.

Gabel is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Ketcham) Gabel; three daughters, Kim A. Inacio of Egg Harbor, N.J., Kristin A. Varley of Glen Mills and Karlyn Kay of Darnstown, Md.; two sons, Ketch of Skippack and Karl K. Gabel of Collegeville; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Mae Gabel. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Meadowood Retirement Community, 3205 Skippack Pike, Worcester. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m.
