Edith S. Taylor, Co-Founder of Taylor Music

Taylor's funeral service will be Saturday in Dresher.

Edith S. Taylor, of Lansdale, died Sunday, Jan. 19 at Dock Terrace. She was 85.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Charles F. Scheetz and the late Ruth J. (Barr) Scheetz.

She was a Germantown High School graduate, Class of 1946, and a graduate of the Bible Institute of Pennsylvania. Taylor worked as the secretary for the President of the Philadelphia School Board.

She and her husband, Frederick W. Taylor, founded Taylor Music in the mid-1950s and watched the store grow to multiple locations in and around Willow Grove.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Lois McElligott and Steve Taylor; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, and a sister, Dorothy Jones.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 at Chelten Church, 1601 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
