Dorothy Dugan Hoare, Originally of Abington

Dorothy “Dottie” Dugan Hoare died Monday, Oct. 14 in Wirtz, Va. She was 92.

Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Frances P. Dugan and Mary T. Ganley.

She was the wife of Edmund J. Hoare Sr., who died in 1978.

Hoare was a graduate of St. David’s School in Willow Grove; a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girl’s High, Class of 1939; and Peirce Business School, in 1941.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Doylestown and St. John The Baptist Church in Haycock. Hoare was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Willow Grove Chapter; Point Pleasant Fire Co. Auxiliary; The Center for Learning in Retirement at Delaware Valley College; and the Central Bucks Senior Citizens.

Hoare retired from the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster after 30 years of service.

She is survived by three children, Edmund J Hoare Jr., Cecelia T. McNichol, and Marie C. Sauer; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 4050 Durham Road, Ottsville.

Internment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
