Christine M. Gerhard, Abington High School Graduate

Christine M. Gerhard, formerly of Glenside and North Wales, died Jan. 5 at the Fairview Care Center in Philadelphia. She was 80.

She was the wife of the late Donald L. Post and Edward O. Gerhard.

Born in Anderson, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Dwight D. and Agnes R. (Trappe) McKinney. 

Gerhard was raised in Glenside and graduated from Abington High School. She went on to attend Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing and later earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Temple University.

She was a registered nurse for over 50 years.

Gerhard is survived by her children, Timothy Post of Blooming Glen, Donna Ardiff of Abington, Judith Rose of Roslyn, and Lisa Kochersperger of Schwenksville; eight grandchildren, John, Matthew, Robert, Emily, Rachel, Laura, Hannah and Scott; two great-grandchildren, Brielle and McKenna; and a brother, Donald McKinney of Robesonia. She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Charles McKinney.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. Grace Community Church, 300 Highpoint Drive, Chalfont. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
